Slate’s

When you’re out enjoying Cape Coral sightseeing and other activities the surrounding areas have to offer, you’re bound to hear your stomach rumble. All the fun in the sand, sun, and water takes a toll and you’ll work up an appetite by dinnertime. If you’re looking for delicious dishes, many with Cajun flair, stop by Slate’s. They are located at 4820 Candia Street in Cape Coral. Join them for dinner, Wednesday-Saturday 5-9 p.m., or for Sunday jazz brunch, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., or call 239-540-6800.

Slate’s Oysters

Enjoy classics like raw oysters with horseradish and cocktail sauce, broiled oysters featuring Gulf oysters in white wine, garlic, and lemon and topped with Parmesan cheese and panko bread crumbs. Add some south-of-the-border flair with fried oysters tostados: fried Gulf oysters over house made tortilla chips, salsa, and habanero drizzle.

Appetizers

Get a taste of New Orleans with jumbo lump crab cake with Cajun remoulade and mixed greens, or the NOLA Cajun shrimp – seven Gulf shrimp sauteed in a spicy Cajun butter sauce. Their spinach artichoke dip boasts a creamy blend of spinach, artichoke hearts, and Parmesan cheese accompanied by French bread, while the “cake and steak” is a delicious three-ounce filet mignon over crab cake and drizzled with Hollandaise, then topped with baby arugula and sprouts.

Salads

Mixed greens, Slate’s Caesar – with the addition of grilled chicken, Gulf shrimp, or fried oysters, fried goat cheese, and ahi tuna filet join others and are all served with house made Balsamic vinaigrette, raspberry vinaigrette, or creamy Cajun dressing.

New Orleans Classics

Taste New Orleans with favorites like Cajun gumbo, jambalaya, or crawfish etouffee – crawfish, fresh tomato, bell peppers, and onions over steamed rice.

Entrees

Other NOLA flavors include shrimp, “Big Easy Pasta”: strips of filet mignon and Gulf shrimp sauteed with onions, red peppers, and cherry tomatoes served over pasta with alfredo sauce. Choose the catch of the day, served the chef’s way and accompanied with potato and vegetable of the day. Step onto the shore and enjoy Slate’s Chicken, a boneless grilled chicken breast topped with spinach-artichoke blend and baked to golden brown, then served with potato and vegetable.

Steakhouse

Choose Slate’s strip: a 14 oz cut, 16 oz boneless rib-eye, or 8 oz filet mignon. Bigger appetites will order the 24 oz porterhouse, or the 43 oz tomahawk – an on-the-bone rib-eye cut. Choose a steak topping like béarnaise, marchand de Vin, Worcestershire, horseradish, or gorgonzola.

Sunday Brunch

Enjoy a lazy Sunday and indulge in a variety of omelets, salads, and more. Tickle your sweet tooth with bananas foster French toast, or beignets, considered the “donut” of New Orleans: fried fritters with a dusting of powdered sugar.
